Concrete Wallington
One of the factors to consider when choosing concrete for construction is the size of the concreted element. Concrete releases some heat during hardening - it heats up. In the case of massive elements (e.g. foundations), the temperature inside can reach several dozen degrees, while on the surface it is several degrees higher than the ambient temperature. This causes significant thermal stress and, as a result, concrete cracking. For this reason, in such elements, it is advisable to use concrete with a slow increase in strength and a relatively small amount of heat. In thin-walled elements (e.g. walls), concretes with faster build-up of strength and high amount of heat are more preferable - this is particularly important when concreting during periods of lower temperatures (autumn, winter).
